Summary: EmuLinker Vulnerability a Matter of National Security?

A denial of service vulnerability recently disclosed in the release notes of the latest version of
the EmuLinker Kaillera Server has gained a surprising amount of attention. First posted as advisory
SA18938 on the secunia.com website, the news quickly spread via RSS feeds throughout the online
security community.

Who could have imagined however that the American Department of Homeland Security would consider the
modest game server a matter of national security? This posting on the National Vulnerability
Database via the United States Computer Emergency Readiness Team confirms that the government is out
to insure your un-interrupted multiplayer emulated gaming needs!
http://nvd.nist.gov/nvd.cfm?cvename=CVE-2006-0822

Rest assured due to the diligent work of our capable government, the small but devoted fan base of
MAME, Gens, Kawaks, Project 64 and other Kaillera enabled emulator users can continue to play their
favorite classic arcade and console games online unmolested.
